In Russia will be built first, superpc processors “Elbrus”

The Russian company RSK is working on creating the world’s first supercomputer, built in the Russian processors “Elbrus”. Moreover, the layout of the computer will be ready before the end of this year, and he will be able to demonstrate their capabilities in full potential customers.

Of course, nobody is going to build a supercomputer on the basis alone of “Elbrusy” because we all know that these processors even before his appearance had already become obsolete, so the performance of any decision based on them in comparison with analogues is simply ridiculous. Therefore, the supercomputer from the RSC will be comprised mostly of Intel Xeon processors, although “Elbrusy” will work in single node with them. “Patriotic” super-the PC company the RSC will be offered in several configurations, but so far the known parameters only the base of them.

She reportedly will receive advanced liquid cooling and 16 nodes with two Intel Xeon E5-2697 each, and one node in four “Elbrus 4C”, plus the company they will make the node on the basis of the E5-2650 and one node for solving problems visualization on Nvidia Grid architecture (CUDA). Local disk subsystem is a RAID version unknown volume of 96 terabytes. The total capacity of the computer is unknown, but it is reported the performance of a single node on the “Elbrusy”: it is equal to only 0.6 teraflops.
