The protesters called on the government to abandon the bill on pension reform.
Russia on Sunday held a protest against government plans to raise the retirement age.
So, more than five hundred people gathered on July 1 in the capital of the Jewish Autonomous region of Russia, Birobidjan. They brought with them posters with slogans such as “Hungry retired – it’s a shame state” and “Die before retirement”.
In the far East meetings were held in the cities of Komsomolsk-on-Amur, Vladivostok and Khabarovsk. In Vladivostok the rally was not even coordinated with the local authorities.
In Omsk for a rally against raising the retirement age gathered about 4,500 people. The speakers demanded to cancel the adoption of the controversial bill on pension reform, many have also called for the resignation of the government Dmitry Medvedev.
