In Russia for 10 months of the current year, a 60% jump in the number of accidents involving taxis in Moscow this figure is even higher — 70%. As noted by the respondents “Kommersant” experts, the main reason for the increase of accidents in fatigue taxi drivers who have to sit “behind the wheel” for 12-14 hours a day due to low tariffs.
The statistics of accidents was announced by the head of the organizational-analytical Department of the traffic police of the Russian Federation Sergey Ryzhov at the seminar on traffic safety. According to him, for 10 months has been 2.7 thousand accidents involving taxis (an increase of 60%), 110 people were killed (an increase of 41%), injured 3,66 thousand people (an increase of 63.9 percent). According to Ryzhkov, the biggest “contribution” to give the sad statistics of violations associated with the desire to quickly bring a client.
The total number of accidents in the country is decreasing: in the first 10 months recorded 133,2 thousand accidents, which is 3.5% less than last year.
The authorities of Moscow have already sent to the state Duma proposals to remedy the situation. For example, they proposed to introduce mandatory Russian rights for taxi drivers to keep this rule in the new edition of the law “about a taxi”. This document was adopted in the first reading in 2018, and since then refined. Now the bill sent to the state legal Directorate of the President, said the first Deputy Chairman of the Duma Committee on transport Vitaly Efimov. He believes that the situation with road accidents correct in one point will not work: 30% of the employed taxi drivers now “no checks”. The timing of the bill Efimov does not have, adding only that this year it “will not happen”.
