The Federation Council approved the law on isolation of Runet.
The Federation Council, the upper house of the Russian Parliament approved the law about the isolation of the Russian segment of the Internet.
For the law voted by 151 member of the Federation Council, against – four; one Senator abstained. Now the document goes for the signature to the President of Russia Vladimir Putin.
The state Duma adopted the law about the isolation of Runet on April 16. It shall enter into force on 1 November 2019. Specific provisions – on the cryptographic security of information and on the national system of domain names will operate from 1 January 2021.
