Officials for years have illegally interfered in the operation of gas networks.
The police began the investigation of the theft of natural gas, totaling more than 15 million hryvnias in Odessa region. This was reported on the official website of the security Service of Ukraine.
“Employees of SBU together with the Prosecutor and Nicoletia exposed and blocked the mechanism of plunder of natural gas, officials of the Odessa gas industry”, – said in the message.
As noted, law enforcement authorities established that in 2016-2017 officials illegally interfered in the operation of gas networks. The suspects artificially lower the amount of consumed industrial facilities in Odessa region of gas, for which they received illegal benefits from employers.
It is noted that the illegal activity was brought by the workers of the gas sector.
According to preliminary estimates of experts, from the beginning of 2017, officials have caused the gas economy damages in the amount of 15 million hryvnia.
Employees of SBU detained three suspects during the installation of illegal devices on the gas network.
During searches in office buildings and at the place of residence of the defendants in the case, law enforcement officers seized counterfeit metering devices and special equipment for its production, as well as 5000 dollars and 1000 euros.

At present militiamen establish all involved in illegal activities.
