The collection provides for the charging of heavy electric vehicles that are most likely to affect models of the Tesla Model S and Model X, writes Motor with reference to the Norwegian newspaper VG.
Details of the new tax have not been disclosed. However, the publication claims that the amount for a lighter version 75D Model S electric car will be about $900, and for the top and Model X P100D — almost $10 000.
In this case the tax will not affect most affordable “Tesla” — Model 3 — because its weight less than two tons.
The innovation has caused dissatisfaction with the leadership of the Norwegian automobile Federation (NAF). Its members believe that the introduction of the tax will allow to 2025 to implement a program to reduce emissions. In addition, organizations fear that the purchase of electric cars will be a disadvantage for the Norwegians.
In June 2016, it was reported that the Norwegian authorities are planning to pass a bill that will prohibit the use of cars in the country with internal combustion engines starting in 2025.
In 2016 the share of electric cars and plug-in hybrids in Norway was 29%, and as of August 2017 this figure increased to 35%.
