Stone axes age of about 4000 years, found by archeologists on the site of the future capital of the Park “Zaryadye” in Simonovska passage in preparation for the landscaping of the street.

Axes, which, unfortunately, remained not entirely, characteristic of the turn of III–II millenniums BC, But even fragments allowed the archaeologists to assume that thousands of years ago they were the same. Each of them is originally a smooth oblong stone with a sharpened end. In the middle of the stone was drilled smooth hole. He was inserted into the shaft. A similar weapon was found in the territory from Central Germany to the Volga region, it could be both combat and ritual, according to the website of the Moscow city hall.

The stones were made by the representatives of culture Fatyanovo-Balabanovo is a subgroup of a larger community — the culture battle axe or corded ware. The representatives of this culture lived on the territory of Central and Eastern Europe. They are considered common ancestors of Germanic, Slavic and Baltic tribes. They had a European appearance, they were engaged in cattle breeding, possessed the skills of metallurgy. In the tombs have often found stone axes.

It is noteworthy that findings were made in the cultural layers of the XVI–XVII centuries. Science known cases where stone axes could be reused at a later time. Presumably, they could be amulets. A stone with a hole in the middle called “chicken God” and believed that it brings luck to the household. Or maybe the axes were used as grinding stones, sinkers for fishing nets.
