In July 2015, the singer was diagnosed with cancer.
People’s artist of USSR, soloist of the Bolshoi theatre Zurab Sotkilava has died in Moscow at the age of 80 years.
This was announced by Director General of Bolshoi theatre Vladimir Gurin.
“Died Zurab Lavrentievich Sotkilava, a great actor of the Bolshoi theatre. He had a severe illness which he fought until the end,” said the CEO.
As you know, in July 2015, the singer was diagnosed with cancer – the doctors found a malignant tumor in the pancreas. He underwent complex treatment in Russia and Germany, then returned to work.
Note, Zurab Sotkilava is a native of Georgia. Since 1974, sung in Russian the Bolshoi theatre. The singer taught at the Moscow Conservatory, was Professor of the Department of solo singing.
