Moldova will soon present a draft document on the special status of Transnistria within the Republic.
Prime Minister of Moldova Pavel Filip said that in the near future will introduce the Concept of the settlement of the Transnistrian conflict.
“In the near future will have a draft of the special status of Transnistria in the whole of Moldova. The document was developed, we are consulting with civil society”, – said Pavel Filip at a meeting with the special representative of the Austrian chairmanship of the OSCE in the Transnistrian conflict settlement wolf Dietrich Heim and head of the OSCE mission in Moldova Michael Scanlan.
According to him, in the Transnistrian settlement process, it is important to move forward and to find technical and political solutions to existing problems.
According to the report, the interlocutors highly appreciated the opening 18 November the bridge between Gura-Bicului and Bull on the Dniester. They noted that “this step is consistent with the interests of the population and economic agents from both banks of the river.”
“Every problem solved is a possibility of further progress in the other issues of the Transnistrian settlement. The main issues on the agenda are to ensure the good functioning of Moldovan schools in the Transnistrian region based on the Latin alphabet; recognition of Transnistrian diplomas; the restoration of the telephone communication between the two banks of Dniester”, – said the Moldovan Premier.
He reported on the positive impact of joint control with Ukraine at the border crossing Kuchurgan-Pervomaysk, which is categorically against Transnistria. “This experience could be extended to other border crossing points of Moldovan-Ukrainian border, including its Transnistrian section. Through joint efforts, we can speak of progress in Transnistrian settlement. It is important not to lose the rhythm,” said P. Philip.
Last week representatives of Chisinau and Tiraspol, with the assistance of mediators have agreed to resume negotiations in a format “5+2” (Moldova, Transnistria, OSCE, Russia, Ukraine and observers from the European Union and the United States). Round of talks will be held on 27-28 November in Austria, which is chairing the OSCE. In preparation for the round of negotiations V. D. The concept of the Transnistrian conflict settlement process is being developed by the Commission with participation of representatives of the President, Parliament, government and civil society of Moldova. The decision on creation of the Commission was made early in the year President Igor Dodon, Chairman of the Parliament Andrian CANDU and Pavel Filip. They said then that the ruling coalition and the President on many issues, there are fundamental differences, but for the Transnistrian settlement they will occupy a common position.
