Scientists have uncovered the mystery of the famous pyramids of the Ghost town.
Archaeologists have found evidence that all the pyramids of the mysterious city of Teotihuacan was a “copy” of the underworld.
Scientists from the National Institute of anthropology and history of Mexico through CT scan found a tunnel under the famous pyramid of the moon. Perhaps in ancient times it was decorated with various ritual objects.
“Discovery has confirmed that the residents of Teotihuacan in the construction of their massive temples followed the same pattern. The function of these buildings consisted in the imitation of the other world,” says archaeologist Veronica Ortega.
The tunnel has a length of 103 meters. Now scientists are exploring the possibility of conducting the excavations.
The pyramid of the moon is the second largest in Teotihuacan. The heyday of this town was in the II century BC, but 500 years later the city was mysteriously destroyed and all its inhabitants are gone. Now the famous pyramids of Teotihuacan (50 km from Mexico city) annually attract thousands of tourists.
