Archaeologists have discovered in Central Mexico city ancient temple dedicated to the Aztec God of the wind, with a platform on which the Aztecs played ball and made sacrifices.
According to sources, the Spanish Conquistador Hernan Cortez watched the Aztec ball game, in 1528. For the game he was invited last Aztec Emperor Montezuma. According to historians, the game involved players who had to hit the ball using the hips, and the action itself was often associated with human sacrifice.
The researchers found that 32 of the neck bones, which, in their opinion, belonged to the people who sacrificed during the ritual. Up to the present time are preserved only part of the area to play the ball, which, according to scientists, up to 50 meters in length.
The temple is a semicircular structure, which stood on a rectangular Foundation. Length of the entire structure reached 30 meters, and height – four.
