The road from Berlin to Munich will take approximately four hours.
On Friday, 8 December, Germany launched operation of the first train to reach speeds of 300 kilometers per hour.
Now from the capital Berlin to the administrative center of Bavaria, Munich can be reached is 3 hours and 55 minutes instead of 6-7 hours earlier. The distance between the two cities is 623 km.
The first opportunity to ride on the bullet train, or two trains, got officials, including the acting transport Minister Christian Schmidt and journalists. To meet the train from Munich to Berlin in the second half of the day will be Chancellor Angela Merkel.
It is noted that this is the most expensive infrastructure project in Germany. The construction of the branch took almost 25 years and cost 10 billion euros. On the way through the Thuringian forest was broken through 22 tunnels up to a length of 8.3 km, built 29 viaducts.
The railroad expects that the year will carry up to 3.6 million passengers, which is twice more than now.
