The new sanctions adopted by the U.S. Congress against Russia, pose a threat to German companies and can worsen relations between Berlin and Washington, said the Minister of economy of Germany, Brigitte zypris.
“The United States have departed from the usual line of [its policy] on sanctions against Russia, which they spent in Europe,” she said in the TV channel ARD.
If America is not to coordinate sanctions with Europe, there is a risk of damage to German business, said the Minister.
American sanctions and criticized in the German Committee on Eastern European economic relations, the forum which takes place on Thursday, July 27.
The Committee stated that the US sanctions will hurt the energy interests of European companies and are designed to stimulate the export of American energy to Europe.
On the eve of the German Federal Association of chambers of Commerce and industry criticized the new US sanctions, saying they have “extraterritorial effect.”
