In force a state of emergency in the Ukrainian energy sector

The order of the Cabinet effective from 17 February.

From February 17 due to the blockade of Donbass entered a state of emergency in the energy sector, which will operate for a month.

“In connection with blocking of freight traffic of coal of the anthracite group with the objective of ensuring reliable, uninterrupted, stable operation of the United energy system of Ukraine, prevent the occurrence of imbalance between the production and consumption of electrical energy to agree with the proposal of the Ministry of energy and coal industry on the adoption of the electricity market the temporary emergency measures”, – stated in the decree of the Cabinet.

National energy company “Ukrenergo” can apply to a schedule of hourly power outage, based on the available fuel reserves and harmonization with the Ministry of energy.

In addition, the state enterprise “Energorynok” must develop a timetable for the load of power system subject to the requirements of the state company “Ukrenergo” on the composition of the equipment of thermal power plants of energy generating companies.

Energoatom must comply with the load curve of the power system of Ukraine, to carry out maintenance of equipment of nuclear power plants due to partial discharges of single units of nuclear power plants.

According to the decree, a state of emergency on power will be valid month, i.e. until 17 March 2017. But three days before the expiry of the present order, the Ministry of energy should inform the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine on the status of its implementation.
