In Egypt, scientists have made a unique discovery

Archaeologists have found a mummy of a noble Egyptian, who died 3800 years ago.

Spanish scientists have discovered in Egyptian necropolis of Qubbet El-Hawa near Aswan tomb of a noble Egyptian man by the name of Semai.

As it was established from the inscriptions on the sarcophagus, this man was the younger brother of a powerful Pharaoh’s Governor (nomarch) of Sarenput II.

Scientists have discovered two sarcophagi made of cedar, which was the mummy. The face of the mummy was closed by the mask, and the neck was a necklace. Also found were wooden figurines of humans, burial goods of pottery and the burial layout of the boat.

Mahmoud Afifi, head of the Department of Egyptian antiquities, described the discovery as “important” not only because of the richness of the burial chamber, but also due to the fact that the discovery “will help to shed light on the life of people close to power”.

According to the head of the excavation, Spanish archaeologist Alejandro jiménez Serrano of the University of Jaen, at present scientists have left the body in the sarcophagus.
