It can replace both gasoline and “diesel fuel”
At the University of Edinburgh (UK) presented the hatchback Ford Focus on an unusual fuel.
British scientists have developed a new kind of biofuel – biobutanol. It is able to replace both gasoline and “diesel fuel”.
Raw materials for biobutanol are waste remaining after the production of whiskey. Fuel produced from spent grains of barley, malt residues and by-products of distillation. The behavior of cars on biofuels is no different from conventional petrol and diesel Ford Focus.
Shortage of raw materials will not be exact. Every year, and the only Scottish whisky that leaves about 750 thousand tons of waste.

The company Celtic Renewables is ready to produce biobutanol on an industrial scale. The government has already allocated a grant of £ 9 million to build a plant for its production. He will start working in 2019.
