The aircraft called EHANG184 will begin to transport people across the Emirate in July of this year.
Management at roads & transport authority (RTA) Dubai has successfully completed testing of passenger drone, which will be the world’s first unmanned flying taxi.
Taxi passengers will be able to travel on predetermined routes, points are plotted on a map displayed on the touch screen inside the drone, it is necessary to select the desired destination. The vehicle will run in automatic mode under the control of the ground control center.
According to the head of RTA Mattar here al Thayer, in the design and manufacture of EHANG184 were taken into account the highest safety requirements. The vehicle is equipped with eight main bolts. In case of any failures in one of the control systems, the backup system will be able to monitor and safely control the drone to the desired point.
EHANG184 is designed to flight within a maximum of 30 minutes with a maximum cruising speed of 160 km/h, and its standard speed is 100 km/h. the drone weighs about 250 kg and 360 kg including passenger. Maximum cruising flight altitude of an air taxi is 900 metres away. The aircraft is designed to operate in almost any climatic conditions, however, precipitation departures are not performed.
