In Damascus erupted violent clashes

In the capital Damascus, the rebels controlled only a few districts.

On the Eastern outskirts of Damascus, fighting broke out between Syrian government forces and the opposition. According to local residents, on the night of Sunday, March 19, the rebels launched an artillery and rocket shelling of the city center.

They also blew up two car bombs in the area Dzhobar, and then tried to storm the defensive positions of government forces.

The Syrian army launched retaliatory airstrikes. Syrian television reported that during the attack on the district of Jobar, the rebels used the network previously dug tunnels.
