In Chernobyl want to build a solar power station

The French are ready to pour into a solar power station in Chernobyl $1.3 billion.

Ukraine started to negotiate with one of the largest energy companies of France — Engie SA — the construction of large solar power plants, worth $ 1.25 billion in the Chernobyl exclusion zone.

At this stage, the French company is considering the preliminary technical-economic justification of the project.

According to the Minister of ecology and natural resources of Ukraine Ostap Semerak, the Engie SA appealed to the Ukrainian government after the Cabinet announced plans to develop renewable energy sources at Chernobyl.

“The experience of the French nuclear energy is one of the reasons why we would like to work with a company from France,” — said the head of the Ministry of environment.

The Minister also added, now about 60 companies interested in the implementation of projects in Chernobyl.

The Agency reminds that today Ukraine has the highest tariffs for green electricity: a kilowatt hour costs 15 cents, while in most European countries the price does not exceed 8.6 cents.

In turn, the Engie SA confirmed that the company has begun negotiations with the Ukrainian side, but have so far refrained from commenting on the cost of the project.
