The champagne will remain the world market leader for sparkling wine, but the Belgian can compete with him.
The competition was 26 year in a row. In 2019 the best sparkling wine brand Chant d Eole produced in the Belgian province of Hainaut.
During the tasting the jury even decided to re-taste the Belgian product. According to the Director of competition Tom Costenoble, “when the quality is obvious, the results are implacable.”
Chant d Eole won in the nomination “International discovery”. Experts argue that the world market leader for sparkling wine is champagne. However, they called a Belgian beverage “revolution”, but noted that “the war in the sparkling wine market is not expected”.
