The time capsule dates back to June 1915
Three students at Boston University have found a “time capsule” older than 100 years, filled with a number of artifacts, including there was a newspaper issued 102 years ago.
Emma Bartel, Sarah Monkey, and Adam Mumford found a time capsule while working in the archives at Boston University. After going over a lot of papers, they noticed a copper container the size of a toaster inside one of the boxes.
“I just thought it was a time capsule,” said Bartel in an interview with the University newspaper, BU Today. The time capsule dates back to June, 1915, it was then that construction began on the Armory of the National guard. Capsule, apparently, was discovered in 2002 when it hosted the University archives, but about it have forgotten again for another 15 years.
Inside the capsule were various items: a statement from the Massachusetts court from 1914 newspaper Boston Daily Advertiser from 1915, a few coins, subway map, and photos.
“I’m just amazed at the surprisingly good condition of some of these things, because they are now more than 100 years”, — shared his impressions Mumford.
