Electric vehicle Sunswift Violet went on a trip around Australia as a open training session before the race cars running on solar batteries.
This electric vehicle was created at the University of New South Wales to take part in the World Solar Challenge, the competition, which will take place next month.
They will be attended by 47 teams from 21 countries, who will come on the route Darwin-Adelaide, and is 3020 kilometers using only solar energy. But before that, Sunswift Violet will travel over 4,000 miles as a demonstration of possibilities of technology and to promote the use of clean energy.
“Sunswift Violet looks like a family sedan, but it uses no more energy toaster. The car has an entertainment system and air-conditioning, sat NAV, Parking sensors, rear view, and even Wi-Fi,” said team leader Simba Kesler.
The car reportedly can reach a top speed of 130 kilometers per hour, but the drivers of electric cars will exceed the speed limit of 60 kilometers per hour, because otherwise there is simply not enough solar power. In Sunswift Violet is equipped with two 1.5 kW motor which gives a torque of 90 Nm. The car’s weight is only 380 kilograms thanks to the use of aluminum and composite materials.
