In Australia died one of the ten “most brutal Nazi”

В Австралии умер один из десяти "самых жестоких нацистов"Carol Zentai was one of the ten “most brutal of the living Nazis”

In Australia, at the age of 96 years, died Karol (Charles) Zentai, whose name was included in the list of 10 most cruel of living Nazis, compiled by the Center named after Simon Wiesenthal.

Former Hungarian soldier, Zentai, accused the authorities of Hungary to the murder of Jewish teenager Peter Balash. According to available information, in November 1944 Zentai killed 18-year-old Peter, because he was not wearing the yellow six-pointed star.

In October 2009 Zentai surrendered to the authorities of Australia. In the same year, the head of the Australian Ministry of internal Affairs, Brendan O’connor approved Zentai’s extradition, but the decision was reversed by the Federal court in July 2010.

In 2011, the Australian government has appealed the court’s decision banning the extradition of Zentai to Hungary. However, this does not lead to anything.

Zentai’s son, Ernie Steiner, claimed that his father was innocent. Steiner claimed that the authorities have sent 650 pages of documents proving the innocence of his father, but received no response.

Efraim Zuroff, head of the Jerusalem office of the Simon Wiesenthal Center, stated that Zentai died free, not in prison, demonstrates the helplessness of the government of Australia in the war against former Nazis and collaborators, who found refuge on the territory of this country.
