In the Antarctic was the most extreme marathon in the world. In the Antarctic ice marathon was attended by 55 people.
The race was held just a thousand kilometers from the South pole. A couple of laps around one of the research stations of Antarctica, 42 kilometers in temperatures of minus 30. The winner of the race through the picturesque snow deserts of Antarctica became an athlete from Denmark. Frank Johansen overcame 42 kilometres in 3 hours 37 minutes and 46 seconds. For comparison, this is approximately an hour and a half more than the results of the winners of the classic new York, Berlin or Boston marathons.
Among women the winner was American Kelly mcclay’s.
“It was amazing, the race was great and everything was as I imagined it!” she commented.
