In the Antarctic, discovered the sea monster age 150 million years from the Jurassic period.
The prehistoric creature belongs to the species of plesiosaurs, which is quite similar to the legendary monster of the Scottish Loch ness.
The plesiosaur is the only one of its kind which can be found in the region, and is the oldest creature ever found in Antarctica.
Chetyrehbalnoy ancient sea monster with a huge body and a long, sinuous neck looks exactly like the monster from Loch ness. However, unlike the mythical Nessie, a recently discovered plesiosaur was very real and roamed the Earth’s oceans at a time when Antarctica was part of Gondwana continent.
“This finding of a plesiosaur on 80 million years older than what was found in the Antarctic,” says paleontologist Jose Patricio O’gorman (José Patricio O’gorman).
Scientists had to go on a two hour flight by helicopter from the Argentinian base in Antarctica Marambio to go to the edge of the frozen continent. It was here that they found the bones of a plesiosaur, the size of which was about 12 meters.
