Educational reform was not to the liking of the Hungarian officials.
The state Secretary of the Hungarian government on issues of national policy Janos Potape called an “unprecedented violation” of the rights of living in Ukraine is 150 thousand Hungarians in the Verkhovna Rada decision to expand the use of the Ukrainian language in education.
The government of Hungary expects that the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine will change, adopted on 5 September, the education act, which deals with the study of languages of national minorities. This was stated by state Secretary of the Hungarian government on issues of national policy Janos Patapi.
According to him, the new law narrows the possibilities of living in Ukraine, representatives of national minorities to learn their native language.
Potape called Ukraine adopted the decision “unprecedented violation” of the rights living in the country 150 thousand Hungarians. According to him, is “completely contrary to the Constitution of Ukraine”.
On 5 September Ukraine’s Parliament adopted on second reading and in whole draft law №3491-d “On education”, the initiative was supported by 255 deputies of Ukraine.
The document introduces 12-year school education, the educational office of the Ombudsman and provides that the salary of the teachers will depend on the outcome of their certification. Also expanded the use of the Ukrainian language in education.
“The approach that they have laid down, such that preschool and elementary education acquired in their native language. While studying in elementary school a lot of pressure is on mastering the state language. Starting with the basic education we provide training in the Ukrainian language”, – said the Minister of education and science, Liliya Hrynevych.
