How many Ukrainians are ready to sell their votes in the elections – opinion poll

To go to such a “deal” done 6%.

79% of Ukrainians deny the willingness of family members to sell their votes, while 6% of respondents admitted that they personally are willing to do it. It is said the results of the survey of GfK Ukraine.

At the same time, according to researchers, in practice, the percentage of those willing to sell can be much higher due to the sensitivity of the issue, and second, because the indirect bribery of the sale of the voice can be disguised.

The reasons for the sale of votes is the poverty of the population, attempts to get at least some benefit from the candidate or party because of disappointment in the election results, lack of understanding of what is considered as bribery of voters, the lack of public condemnation of those who buys and sells voice, as well as low awareness about the cases of bringing to criminal liability for violation of electoral laws.

The survey also said that 68% of Ukrainians are faced with at least one of the violations in the elections that were held in 2014, most often they referred to the electoral campaign.

“The most common types of violations are related to the electoral campaign – they were mentioned by 65% of respondents and bribery of voters – 13% of respondents,” said analyst Tatyana Kostyuchenko.

The study also showed that only 14% of Ukrainians know about the criminal liability for voters who sell their votes, and only 18% of respondents heard about the cases of bringing to responsibility of persons who violated electoral legislation.

The survey was conducted in June-July 2017 in all regions of Ukraine (except the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and certain regions of Donetsk and Lugansk regions).
