Honda unveiled two new cars on electricity

The company estimates that by 2030 two-thirds of brand sales will come from models using alternative energy sources.

The company Honda presented at the motor show in new York two new models from the Clarity — it includes cars that run on alternative fuel sources. The audience was shown a model of Clarity Plug-in Hybrid and Electric Clarity. The company estimates that by 2030 two-thirds of brand sales will come from models using alternative energy sources.

Clarity Electric company is positioned as the first affordable five-seater electric car with a battery. Equipped with a 161-horsepower electric motor and a battery pack with a capacity of 25.5 kWh, the car can be fully charged in three hours at a voltage of 240 volts. When using rapid charging, alternating current with technology SAE Combined Charging System, 80% of the battery charge can be replenished in 30 minutes.

Earlier it was reported that Honda Motor Co and Hitachi Automotive Systems announced the signing of the “Memorandum of understanding”. The main purpose of the agreement is the establishment of a joint venture for the development, production and sales of engines for electric vehicles. Both companies in the near future will hold official talks regarding the establishment of the new company.

Together with the creation of the new company, both companies will expand the global supply chain. Production capacity will be located in Hitachinaka, Japan. The opening of the plant scheduled for July 2017.
