Japanese automaker Honda is Recalling more than a million Accord sedans because of the risk of spontaneous combustion.
Service campaign covered 1.2 million cars Accord 2013-2016 model years. The fault is that the sensor on the negative terminal on the battery is not well isolated from moisture. In winter, the road salt that is used for sanding the roads, getting to this place can cause corrosion and further short-circuit. As a result, the sensors can overheat and catch fire.
The manufacturer is aware of four incidents of fire in the engine compartment because of this flaws. Fortunately, the victims in the incident was not.
Authorized Honda dealers will inspect the battery sensors on cars Accord, came under review, and, if faulty replace them. Car owners whose cars do not have this fault, can also count on replacement parts but only if it is available. Otherwise, the service centre will cause a problem sealant.
