Hackers have found a way to remotely lock the device-class Mac and iPhone. They use the function “find my iPhone” in iCloud.
It is noted that to unlock the criminals demand a ransom in bitcoins. Blocked thus the devices confirmed by Twitter users: the only thing they see is the lock screen with the requirement to pay 0.01 BTC in ransom.
While it remains unclear how exactly hackers gained access to the function “find my iPhone”, but most likely, it could occur as a result of discharge information about user data in iCloud. In addition, regardless of whether the user is two-factor authentication, the hackers had access to passwords, just a block device via iCloud.
Security experts recommend users as quickly as possible to turn off “find my iPhone”. In the event of problems are also advised to contact Apple support, although its resolution and may take time. So, one of these users reported that the solution was found only two days later.
