Hackers have conducted a massive attack on Sweden

The largest enterprises were left without communications.

Transport Agency Sweden were victims of DDoS attacks, breaching the IT systems of the organizations, which in some cases resulted in delay of trains.

The first attack to occur on Wednesday, October 11, was sent to the Swedish transport administration (Trafikverket). The incident occurred a failure in the system of traffic control, the e-mail service and web site administration, which has led to the fact that passengers are unable to book tickets and get information on the causes of delays or cancellation of trains.

According to the Trafikverket, the attack was focused on two providers of the Agency, TDC and the DGC, but it has affected the services of the Department. Trafikverket experts were able to recover all systems within a few hours, but due to the DDoS attacks on all day trains departed with a delay.

A day later, on 12 October, similar DDoS attacks were the Transport administration of Sweden (Transportstyrelsen) and the transport operator Västtrafik, which provides transportation services in Western Sweden.

Experts believe that both incidents could be a test attack different parts of the transport system of Sweden, the purpose of which was to test how the country would respond to cyber attacks.
