Groisman spoke about land reform

The basics of reform: the sale of land only to individuals-citizens of Ukraine in the amount of not more than 200 hectares per person.

The purchase of land should be available only to individuals-citizens of Ukraine in the amount of not more than 200 hectares per person. This was stated by Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman during the working discussions of the basics of land reform today, may 29, the press service of the Cabinet of Ministers.

“At this stage we are categorically against the sale of land to foreigners, against the opening of the land market for legal persons”, – said Groisman.

He added that the model of land reform must contain a clear fuses opposed to the Ukrainian land bought by those who would like just to cash in. “If you open up the market, so that it contributed to the creation of the farming class,” – said Groisman.

Participants generally agreed that the issue is not in the plane of the lifting or maintaining the moratorium on land sales. So far, the question is how to determine what model of land turnover would be the best for Ukraine.

The meeting also agreed that the informal land market in the country already exists. First Deputy Prime Minister Stepan Kubiv cited statistics according to which in 2016 on non-competitive principles in use were transferred to a 1.5 million hectares of agricultural land. While the starting price of rent per hectare was only 940 UAH. But on a competitive basis given to the 42 hectares of land at a much higher price.
