Giro d’italia-2017: Spanish Fraile from separation won the mountain stage

Summing up the results of the eleventh stage of the hundredth version of the legendary Italian Cycling.

After cutting, radically changed the balance of power in the fight for the pink Jersey, the Giro participants had to pass mountain stage, category D with a series of ascents of the second category and a complex descent to the stage finish in bagno di Romagna.

In the first breakaway of the day made it about 20 riders, including Igor Anton, Rui Costa, Giovanni Visconti, Pierre Rolland, Andrei Amador, of Tanel Kangert, Mikel Landa and others.

Later many of the front forming two escaped Landa and Oscar Fraile. This Duo lasted a few tens of kilometers is the basis of separation gradually caught up with the fugitives and turned them off.

Landa could not stand this chase, but Fraile didn’t hold back on the edge of the gap, but was able to win the last mountain of the day and in the status of interim leader began the descent to the stage finish. Fraile did not lose power for solo work on the descent, and waited for the remnants of the breakaway to finish the shot in
brilliant style to deal with their fellow travelers. A brilliant and deserved victory for the Spanish rider of the “Dimension Data”.

In the General classification at the expense of participation in isolation tightened Amador and Kangert, but in the group of leaders without permutations. Tom Dumoulin retains more than a two-minute separation from Nair Quintana.

2. Nair Quintana (Colombia, Movistar) At 2.23
3. Bauke Mollema (Netherlands, Trek-Segafredo) – 2,38
4. Thibaut Pinot (France, FDJ) is 2.40
5. Vincenzo Nibali (Italy, Bahrain-Merida) – 2,47

Tomorrow the Giro one more hard mountain stage in the Apennines. Participants of the race will have four category rise with the altitude of 3500 meters.
