Powerful lightning struck the mountain of Mauna Kea.
In Hawaii, astronomers have filmed a rare form of lightning known as “gigantic jet”. Lightning formed about 80 kilometers above the ground and struck the mountain of Mauna Kea.
According to employees of local the Gemini Observatory, the lightning bolt of this size has never been recorded on video.

Gigantic jet is a conical tube, which occurs in the upper atmosphere over the storm front. Usually these lightning originate at a height of about 40-60 kilometers above sea level.
