Future Volvo cars will receive the multimedia systems on Android

Volvo and Google have signed an agreement to develop the infotainment system of the new generation.

All future Volvo cars will be equipped with infotainment systems based on Android operating system. The agreement was signed between the Swedish automaker and Google, reports the press service of Volvo.

Both companies together will develop and test multimedia systems next generation who will determine the car brand Volvo not later than two years later.

According to representatives of the Swedish brand, buyers of cars will be available as most of the Google apps and “hundreds” of popular third party software. In addition, the new operating system will allow you to control some basic functions of the car, including seat settings, climate system, and to operate Windows and mirrors.

Two years later, Volvo will launch a series of new family of subcompact cars, and will begin production of the first in its history of the electric vehicle. The novelty will be built on the same platform as the crossover XC40. In the future, the Swedish company plans to develop a whole family of cars with electric motors. According to unofficial data, the reserve, the new model will be at least 400 kilometers. The price of the electric car, which will establish in China to be between 35 000 to 40 000 dollars.
