An abandoned cement factory has become a luxury Villa.
When, in 1973 Ricardo Bofill stumbled upon an abandoned cement factory, he immediately saw a sea of possibilities. Was born at La fábrica (the factory in Spanish), and almost 45 years later, the building is completely transformed and turned into a unique home.
Old cement factory close to Barcelona. It was the production during the Second world war, and the architect and his team had to invest much effort in the renovation of a dilapidated building. For Bofill this place has become a project of a lifetime that continues to change and evolve along with the architect and his creative ideas.

For several years it was partially dismantled, then the architect’s team engaged in the transformation of the interior in modern living space.

“The cement factory is the main workplace,” writes Bofill on your website.
Each room is decorated according to its specific purpose, and there is not one which would be similar to another.
“I have the impression that I live in a closed universe that protects me from the outside and everyday life,” says Bofill.
“Life here is flowing continuously, and the difference between work and leisure is very small”.

The working space here is also the fundamental component, as the team Bofill uses part of the house as a Studio.
Outside, the house is almost completely covered with vegetation and surrounded by eucalyptus, palm and olive trees.
This gives the building a mystery romantic ruins and makes it unique.
