The mass of WASP-127b is 0.18 mass of Jupiter, but its radius exceeds that of the largest planet of the Solar system to 1.37 times. Exoplanet therefore is the lightest supernatural known at the moment. The period of its revolution around bright parent stars remote from Earth at 322 light years is 4.2 days. Glitter star and its relative proximity to the Solar system allowed astronomers to study in detail the composition of the atmosphere of WASP-127b.

In February, scientists observed the passage of the planet (transit) on the background of the disk of the star with the Northern optical telescope (Canary Islands) equipped with the spectrograph ALFOSC (Andalucia Faint Object Spectrograph and Camera). Astronomers have found signs that indicate the presence of Rayleigh scattering, in which the atmosphere scatters light of one wavelength is stronger than the other. In addition, they suggested that in the gas shell are the oxides of titanium and vanadium.

According to scientists, the spectrograph data show that in the planet’s atmosphere, no clouds or they are quite rare. However, these results should be confirmed by further research.
