The pilot “Mercedes” Lewis Hamilton thanks to the successful tactics was the winner of the Grand Prix of Spain.
In the first meters of the race Hamilton had lost the start to Vettel, and quickly allowed the German to break away for a few seconds. Meanwhile, the stage in Barcelona ended Kimi Raikkonen and Max Verstappen, who is not divided between the first corner.
Vettel with small breaks lead to 44 range, while Hamilton on the quicker tyres was not spared of the racer “Ferrari”. This overtaking has become compensated to the “Mercedes” for the loss of the second pilot of Valtteri Bottas at the 39-lap engine failure.
Hamilton took about ten laps to pull away from Vettel by four seconds. At the end of the race the German was expected to approach the leader, but after a failed overtaking the circular Mass, he was back on the reach distance from the driver “Mercedes”.
Company Hamilton and Vettel on the podium thanks to the retirements of Raikkonen, Verstappen and Bottas made up the pilot “Red bull” Daniel Riccardo, whose first top-3 in the season.
Lewis Hamilton became a two-time winner of the Grand Prix of Spain. Among existing riders of a similar achievement can boast only Kimi Raikkonen and Fernando Alonso.
Despite the defeat in Spain, Sebastian Vettel kept the lead in the standings, and the Mercedes pulled away from Ferrari in the constructors ‘ championship.
