The pilot “Mercedes” Lewis Hamilton with a record won the qualification for the second phase of the season in Shanghai.
The main surprise in the starting segment was the 19th place of the pilot Red bull max Verstappen the young Dutchman due to problems with the motor almost half a second lost to Sebastian Vettel at Ferrari. Together with Verstappen qualified prematurely ended Vandorn (McLaren), Grosjean (“Haas”), Palmer (“Reno”) and (“Force India).
In the second segment of the pilot “Ferrari” and “Mercedes” quickly guaranteed a place in the top 10, and Kimi Raikkonen in the second attempt updated record of the track in Shanghai (1:32.181). Together with the favourites to fight for pole position, crossed the Lot and Stroll (“Williams), Nico Hulkenberg (Renault), Riccardo (Red bull), Perez (“Force India”) and Kvyat (Toro Rosso).
For Sainz (Toro Rosso), Magnussen (“Haas”), Alonso (McLaren), Eriksson and Giovinazzi (both “Zauber”), crashed his car at the end of the first segment, part of Saturday’s Grand Prix of Shanghai was completed.
In the beginning of a decisive segment of Hamilton broke the record of Raikkonen (1:31.902). In the last attempt, the leader of the “Mercedes” was even faster (1:31.678). With this result Vettel to argue failed – German only 0.001 seconds ahead of team-mate Hamilton Bottas. Top 4 locked Raikkonen, which is located behind ricciardo and Massa.
