For two years tuition at universities increased by 25-45%

In just two years the cost of education at some University majors increased by 25-45 percent. Asked the Ministry of education, what is the reason for such significant growth.

For example, in 2017, the first year of study at the faculty of computer systems and networks of BSUIR cost 2750 rubles, in 2018 — 3210 rubles in 2019 — 3430 rubles. Growth over two years — almost 25 percent.

Freshmen of the faculty of international relations of Belarusian state University who entered the University in 2017, had to pay for a year of training from 2765 to 2851 ruble depending on the specialty. Freshmen of the year (or their parents) have to give 4183 ruble. Over the next two years the growth was about 45 percent.

Cost is determined by objective factors, namely the reasonable costs for training, — says Sergey Kasperovich, head of the main Department of professional education Ministry of education

Most of the money goes to pay teachers, says Sergey Kasperovich. Also the money goes to utilities, the University, updating the material-technical base and other costs.

— You need to objectively assess the situation. In the cost structure of the remuneration of teachers is around 80%, — says Sergey Kasperovich. — If we compare the index of prices for educational services, they even lag behind the growth index of the prices of other services. During the year, expenses grow, and then once a year it all kicked in.

Compared to September 1, 2018, the earnings of teachers increased by more than 12 percent, said the Kasperovich.

First was the decree of the Council of Ministers that has led to increased earnings by 5 percent. From 1 November 2018 was increased tariff rate. From September 1, 2019 is also expected to increase by 7.2%.
