For late payment of utility bills, Ukrainians will have to fork out

Will have to pay 0.01% of each day.

In Ukraine, the debtors, overdue payments for housing and communal services, will be charged a penalty.

“The penalty provided for from 1 January 2019 at the rate of 0,01% for each day of delay after the date of the expiry of the payment period,” – said the MP from the faction “Samopomich” Alyona Babak.

Innovations that were adopted in the framework of the new law “On housing and communal services”, will concern a situation when the payment for utility services is made on time before the 20th of the month or other date.

“This means that 100 days overdue – 1% of the outstanding amount, i.e. the maximum amount of interest is 3.65%,” said Babak.

The MP stressed that in the case of debts of state subsidies and benefits, the penalty is not charged. Also no penalty is charged if a person has a debt on payment, which is documented.
