408 208 first graders will begin to study at schools in the new academic year 2017/2018 September 1, whereas in the 2016 first-graders were 393,7 thousand the Minister of education and science, Liliya Hrynevych said during selector meeting on preparation of educational institutions for the 2017/2018 school year.
“September 1 first class will 408 208 thousand first-graders,” said she.
According to the Minister, the largest number of first graders in the Dnipropetrovsk region (34 767 children). And the greatest set of first graders in rural areas is expected in the Lviv region and in Transcarpathia.
According to Grinevich, increase state investment in education, the consolidated education budget this year is 168,6 bln. against 129,4 billion in 2016.
