Impressive moment of the stream of molten lava captured camera on the island of Hawaii.
GoPro tour guide Erik Storm survived after absorbing the lava. It still shoots video, probably saved by the protective case.
Storm conducts tours to the Kilauea volcano on Hawaii island. About 16 months ago, while on tour, he put the camera in the crack to capture the flow of molten lava.
“I was telling [travelers] history when the molten lava flooded my GoPro (with case) and the camera caught fire. I used a rock hammer to extract the camera, and thought it broke,” he says.
After removing the camera, Storm noticed that it blinks WiFi detector. Then he took out the SD memory card and saw that the camera recorded the moment of the lava flow.
The camera still worked, albeit not as good as before. It’s incredible that she survived said Storm.
