The legendary Swiss tennis player Roger Federer decided to fully skip the clay season.
Last season Federer due to a back problem made after Wimbledon. Comeback of the Swiss surpassed all expectations – the most titled tennis player in the world in brilliant style won the Australian Open, then won the Masters in Indian wells and Miami.
After the success on hard courts Federer has decided to skip the large series of ground tournaments to keep the forces on the second part of the season. Now the tennis player through its official website announced the refusal to participate in the second season of the tournament series Grand slam.
“Unfortunately, I made the decision not to speak at the Open championship of France. To continue to be Round for years to come, I’d better finish of the season on clay courts and prepare for performances on grass and hard courts
My team decided that the performance of only one clay tournament will have a positive impact on my preparation for the remainder of the season,” said Federer.
Roger Federer for the second year in a row skips Roland Garros. The major ground is the worst in the career of Swiss. In Paris, Federer scored only one title (2009) and four were lost in the final.
Roland Garros-2017 kicks off may 28 and will end on June 11. The best tennis players in the world in two weeks will compete for more than 32 million euros.
