Farmers have collected a record grain harvest in Ukraine

In General, the harvest of early grains this year is the second for volume for all history of independence.

This year’s crops of rye and barley almost a record, and can fully meet the domestic market.

This was announced by first Deputy Minister of agrarian policy and food of Ukraine Maxim Martyniuk during a Cabinet meeting.

“At the end of the harvest of early grain. This year in some regions we have obtained a new historical record yield. We received a record yield of crops such as rye and barley. In General, the gross harvest of early grain group wheat is 25.7 million tonnes though domestic consumption is 9.6 million tons, including food for the needs of 4.7 million tons,” – said the official.

Also Martynyuk said that Ukraine is one of the few countries which can afford exports of half-grown grain. This year for the first time, Ukrainians will have to import rye, and barley fees fully provide the needs of the domestic market.

“In General, the harvest of early grains this year is the second for volume for all history of independence. Last year was a record,” added Martyniuk.
