In the Ashikaga flower Park in the Japanese Prefecture of Tochigi in the Honshu island, just two hours train ride from Tokyo, bloom at the same time more than 350 multi-colored Wisteria.
The flowering period of this plant attracts tourists from all over Japan and from overseas no less than the famous Sakura. This year the festival will begin on April 15 and will last until the end of may. Visitors will find 80-meter tunnel, which consists of white Wisteria flowers. 3 Wisteria at Ashikaga Park cover purple waterfalls, their colors area of 1000 sq. m.
Wisteria is a large subtropical vine, reaching a height of six-storey building, from which hang tassels of fragrant flowers. It is believed that the Japanese name for Wisteria Fuji, is etymologically related to the name of mount Fuji, a symbol of the rising sun. Some of the plants in Ashikaga more than 150 years.
