Facebook would create a smartphone that never gets old

Now do not need every year to buy a new gadget.

The American company Facebook, which owns the eponymous social network, is going to create a smartphone with interchangeable parts. This became known from patent documents of the company.

The patent application for which was filed by the leadership of Facebook designed for “modular Electromechanical devices”, which includes speaker, microphone, and GPS. It can also work as a phone. It is assumed that a modular system will allow users to swap various components of the device as needed. “Each module is associated with a particular function,” reads the patent application.

In the annotation to the application, you can see a series of modules made by 3D printing, which can be attached to the main body of the phone. It will also help extend the life of your smartphone and reduce the amount of e-waste.

As it became known to employees of the publication Business Insider, the Facebook project will be specialists previously worked on the modular Project Ara from Google. In September last year, Google suspended work on this project.
