For quite some time that Google takes for the development of modular smartphones, it abandons that idea and puts it in a drawer.
It seems that the baton Google took over the company Facebook, which now also interested in the possibilities of creating highly modular smartphones and even started to develop.

It is not clear yet how far has the work on a new product, but there are a number of signs that indicate the growing interest in modular gadget. For example, the fact that Dugan had previously also headed the group responsible for the development of modular smartphone in Google, and apparently she had to gain the create a new device material. But Dugan isn’t the only expert who came to Facebook to finally implement the project, similar in its design with the Ara, as noted by both companies, Facebook took a lot of specialists.
Most interesting in this situation is that Facebook even filed July 20 patent application into separate modules, which are described in detail the whole idea of creating a modular smartphone. It lies in the fact that usually in case of breakage of some parts of the smartphone users throw the whole expensive gadget, the modular smartphone will give the opportunity to change the damaged unit.
In Facebook also noted that the project was bought by a company that specializes in modular electronics in September last year.
