Facebook is going to compete with TV and YouTube

The videotape will replace a new Watch tab

World’s largest social network Facebook intends to seriously develop video products, and in the future to compete with traditional TV and giant market YouTube.

A separate feed for video on “Facebook” was launched in the US last year, but still mostly it got a little Amateur videos or short news clips.

According to the plan of the company, the videotape will replace a new Watch tab, which will be posted videos, many of which are produced on money Facebook.

The new feature will initially be available to a certain number of users in the United States, then spread around the world.

Some of the video will last more than 10 minutes – much more than now people are watching videos on the social network.

According to a product Manager Facebook Daniel Denker, people love to accidentally stumble upon the video in their feed, but they also liked and a separate tape for video viewing.

The Watch tab will be personalized for each user: first of all, to get into some programs that are like friends.

Users can browse or after a comment, chat with friends, create communities of interest.

“The video doesn’t have to be passive”, – wrote in “Facebook” network founder mark Zuckerberg.

The market for video on the Internet challenging and highly competitive. And access Facebook on videotape – a new source of income for social networks and producers of video content. Exclusive partners of Facebook will receive 55% of the profit through advertising inserts, the rest will work the social network.

Facebook market Internet videos will have to compete not only with the old YouTube and Netflix, but with a novice-heavyweight in the face of Disney.

A few days ago, the American Walt Disney announced plans in 2019 to refuse to cooperate with Netflix and start streaming games, and will begin next year with Internet broadcasting, broadcasts its sports division ESPN.

According to Reuters, Facebook has already signed contracts with companies Vox Media, BuzzFeed, ATTN, Group Nine and other Media that focus on audience at the age of 30-40 years – so-called Millennials.

Facebook has already prepared for the new service of video transmission on National Geographic channel, videos for the women’s national basketball Association, the games of the American League baseball and the show for parents on company Time Inc.
