Fabric-deodorant: created unique cooling fibers

The unique fabric is printed on a 3D printer.

Summer heat is especially hard tolerated in big cities. Any, even the simplest activity becomes a tedious procedure when such weather conditions. It is possible that new development scientists at the University of Maryland will help to cope with the nuances of our climate. Engineers were able to create fabric that cools the body and gives you the ability to do without air conditioning. According to the website Phys Org, the material is manufactured using 3D printing, which greatly reduces its cost.

Material made of nanofiber composite consisting of boron nitride, and polyvinyl alcohol. 3D printing allowed us to align nanofibers and turn them into a homogeneous fabric. The fabric was very durable, with the obvious cooling effect.

Unlike conventional materials, it does not retain body heat in its fibers, making the clothes in the “heat trap”. Instead, the material takes heat out and makes it two times more effective than cotton.

Experiments to create a cooling cloth put is not the first year. Startup Atacama received a grant to develop material based on microhydrodynamic, which is able to remove moisture although a little dry. It helps the body stay cool, but the problem is that this method works only at high temperatures.

There is technology using expensive cooling materials, but they are very energy consuming. Therefore, the study’s lead author Hu Lambin believes that his team created an inexpensive and effective material can be a leader in this market.
